What is the Bonner Leaders Program?
The UC Davis Bonner Leaders Program was established by Dr. Janice
Morand in 2002-2003. It is affiliated with Human Corps, a campus
organization that promotes community service through action. Through
receiving team project opportunities, leadership training, and support
from other team members, UCD Bonner Leaders are equipped with resources
and skills that will not only build character but also influence their
peers and community.
The Program Mission:
Through sustained partnerships with colleges and congregations, the Corella and Bertram F. Bonner Foundation seeks to improve the lives of individuals and communities by helping meet the basic needs of nutrition and educational opportunity. The mission of the Bonner Leaders Program is to transform the lives of students and members, the life of their campuses, their local communities, and the world through service and leadership.
What are the Bonner Core Values?
1. Social justice
2. Civic engagement
3. Community-building
4. Spiritual exploration
5. International perspective
6. Diversity
What makes up a Bonner Leader?
A Bonner Leader is a student who has a passion for community service and an ability to lead. He/she cares for welfare of others, the environment, and their community in general and they work to make each of them better. A Bonner Leader exhibits responsibility and determination as well as committment and a willingness to volunteer their time and energy to serve others.
Program History
In 1989, the Bonner Foundation was established by Corella and Bertram F. Bonner in Princeton, New Jersey. While millions of dollars are raised each year for academic and athletic scholarships, the Bonner Foundation believes that a third type of merit scholarship, based on community engagement, should be available at all colleges and universities. Hence Bonner Leaders Program was created in 1997. Currently, more than 1,000 Bonner Leaders annually develop their civic and leadership skills, knowledge, and values through their roles in community.

Requirements:
To be a Bonner Leader, a student is required to:
- Pledge a two-year commitment - All members are required to complete 600 hours of service by the end of their
